As many of you know, or should know, Tetris is Terry’s video game of choice. Mine, on the other hand is Dr. Mario.

For those who do not know, Dr. Mario is an old school Nintendo game. It is a game in which you have a certain amount of viruses in a bottle that you have to destroy with pills that Dr. Mario throws into the bottle. In order to get rid of the viruses with the pills you must match the color of the pills with the color of the viruses and align them so that there are 4 in a row. Once you get 4 in a row of the same color the virus disappears.

I have always told myself that I really like a game when I enjoy playing it even when I lose over and over. Such is the case with Dr. Mario and thus I know it’s love. And ping-pong… I can play ping-pong against my brother and lose 10 games straight and still enjoy playing. I guess it could be hope and joy that drives me on though… the hope that one game I will win and feel a sense of accomplishment. I think I like the competition too, cause I know that I like playing someone who can challenge me in the game. It’s no fun to blow someone out of the water every time. You know?

It’s a different skill set than that of Tetris. I am not very good at Tetris but I can hold my own at Dr. Mario. It has more to do with seeing possible alignments of 4 than building and packing. I am bad at Tetris and thus it seems I am a bad mover. I am good at Dr. Mario and thus it seems I can tell you what your options for moving are. It seems we all have a lot to learn from each other. So it seems.

Yessssssss. All viruses have been defeated! Now, don’t you feel good about yourself?

Sure you have heard of texting while driving, but have you heard of, or tried, texting while walking? If so, then I am sure that you have probably had some of the same problems that the drivers have. Like: swerving to miss other walkers, tripping up or down steps, running red lights, twisting ones ankle, running into a wall or pole, or running right into someone.

Walking and texting can be dangerous, but it also can be quite annoying to the people that are getting bumped into. Texting has become all the rage but when involved with others in a group it is down right rude. Picture this, you are having a good time with friends and you are laughing and talking about times past and you look up to see one of your friends texting or at the very least staring at their phone. The room goes quiet and before you know it there is two of them on their phones and then three. We have been addicted to our technology!

Doing this can make your friends mad and will give them a complex if they are competing for your attention, they will stop talking and then maybe even leave, then after they get home they will cry. Cry like an injured school boy who has scraped his knee while riding bikes with his friends. All because you chose to give your soulless piece of technology your time. Not cool.

If you are in a group of people and you need to use your phone then do so. but if you are doing it because you are not interested in the convo then please grow a heart. But if you are a lonely blog writer and you find yourself terribly off-course with your article take a second and get back on task.

Walking and texting is dangerous and could maybe kill you, kind of like your cat could maybe kill you by sleeping on your face. Either way it could happen, whether it has or not, who knows, although I did see a fellah walking and texting as he crossed the street… that could have been bad, very bad. Mind your business is all I am saying… I am out.

Many of you may have read Terry’s What To Do About YOUR DISLIKE OF TEXTING. Well, I am here to tell you today that you are not crazy and the world does not hate you. I know, I know, it’s shocking but I actually kind of like texting.

Now I don’t want you to misunderstand me. I am not a huge fan of the telephone by any means. I mean, it is nice to have for communication, but I don’t like to be too attached. Anyway, having said that there are several reasons why I like texting:

1. I don’t have a lot to say
2. I don’t want anybody to hear my conversation
3. I don’t have time to talk
4. I like to read

Ok, ok. Those were from Terry’s post… here are my real reasons:

1. I like to be short, on and with the phone and texting forces you to do that.
2. texting can be done in your own time, while it’s hard to talk on the phone and read, you can text and then read and then text again
3. sometimes I just don’t want to talk or hear other people talk

Now, I do agree with Terry’s post in some aspects. It is quite comical to watch people try and talk and text at the same time. I have done it to him in fact. Also, I don’t like texting and driving at the same time… even though I do it… I still find it annoying.

SO, I think there is definitely some texting etiquette that needs to be adhered to. It is one thing to respond to someone promptly or take a call… it is another to have your attention constantly diverted to the phone when other people are trying to talk to you.

Sometimes it is especially wise to ignore your phone for a while… or only glance at it. This is especially true when you are in a meeting… or say a WTDA gathering… where perhaps, one person is responding to a client, another is updating their twitter status, and another is texting a friend. Of course there are times when important texts and calls must be taken… it is just nice to leave the phone by itself for a while.

Thoughts anyone? A penny for your thoughts…

Surely you don’t want the iphone? Are we really a culture of technology whores that feed on the next big technological advancement? I think there are more of us out there that are content just having some wireless signal to “borrow” from our neighbors. I mean really what is there to gain from all those features? What are they anyway? I heard something about the iphone playing music, that’s great and all, but I can hear the music just fine from the dude in the car next to me. The only problem with that… his license plate keeps vibrating like… well you know…a phone, or something. Can there be anything to gain from being able to check on anything at any time? Isn’t that what the newspaper is for? Or your best friend that works at home with Internet access? They are great friends.

We should be worrying more about things that are really important like high taxes, homeless shelters, fantasy football or Ethiopian chefs that appear at Oprah’s fund raiser for the former first lady Hillary Clinton. I thought Ethiopians weren’t eating anything, I mean my mom was always telling me that if I don’t eat my vegetables some kids over there would starve or something. Now, I realize there are starving people in the world… of course, but I bet I would know what they are eating now if I had an iphone, yep that’s it.

There is one last thing about the iphone that concerns me; the price! What is it… something like $600 dollars? I think it’s more like 666, the end of the world, and Steve Jobs is the anti-christ. While we all work to get that money to pay our house payments there are people spending that money on technology. I think we are being brain washed by uncle Steve. Besides, think of all the things that you could do with that money….hold on a second, I just got an email. It’s from my friend with the Internet…he says, no wait, that can’t be right…	the PRICE just DROPPED!!!

Well, I have to go… I think I need to see what all the fuss is about. I mean, uh…well, all right I just got one, but at that price who wouldn’t… I mean that’s great! A price drop! Did I mention I love my iphone? It’s the greatest thing since toilet paper. Yes, I think it is that essential, thanks Steve Jobs and Rush Limbaugh!! Why Rush? Because he never uses a phone and he bought 40 iphones… so I knew it had to be good. I mean it is that good.

What do you think about the iphone? Let me know on the forum.
